How to Read Your NOUN Exam Timetable and Find Clashes

A simple method for checking course codes, centres, exam dates and overlapping times before examination week.

Start with the most recent official timetable

Timetables can be revised. Download or inspect the latest release from the university or your authorised study centre and note the release date. A screenshot shared in a group may be incomplete or superseded.

List each of your registered exam courses before checking dates. Use the exact course code, as similarly named courses can have different codes and schedules.

Create a personal examination schedule

For every registered course, record the date, start time, duration (if stated), venue or centre and assessment format. Sort by date and time. Where the official timetable leaves an item unclear, seek clarification before making travel arrangements.

Illustrative clash check

  1. GST101 — 12 November, 9:00–11:00 (illustrative only).
  2. MTH101 — 12 November, 10:00–12:00 (illustrative only).
  3. These intervals overlap from 10:00 to 11:00, so they represent a clash.
  4. Do not rely on these sample dates: use the current official timetable for real courses.

Check overlaps rather than identical start times

Two papers can clash even when their start times differ. A general overlap test is: Exam A starts before Exam B ends, and Exam B starts before Exam A ends.

Where the official timetable does not provide a duration, you cannot conclusively determine an overlap from that information alone. Confirm with authorised centre staff.

What to do if a clash appears

Keep a copy of the relevant registered courses and timetable entries. Contact your study centre or the official support channel promptly, following any university procedure. Avoid assuming another student’s approved arrangement applies to you.

Do not unilaterally skip a paper because an automated timetable tool indicated an issue. Tools help identify possible conflicts; the institution resolves examination arrangements.

Recheck before travelling

Review the timetable again shortly before the exam, especially after any public announcement about changes. Confirm the centre address and any attendance instructions.

Keep travel and ID logistics separate from your study plan so an otherwise prepared student does not arrive at the wrong place or time.

Your practical checklist

  • I checked the newest official timetable release.
  • All registered course codes appear in my personal list.
  • I inspected overlapping intervals, not just matching start times.
  • I know which authorised office handles clashes.
